As I handed it on I was thinking, this guitar is starting to sound really nice!! When I sold the guitar I removed the pickup and fitted a new saddle. I installed an undersaddle pickup and wonder if in doing so I compromised the tone. The trebles were already starting to improve after a month or so. I didn't really give it a chance to settle in / open up. But here are two things to say in defence of the OM: They improved as I played the guitar in.Īnyway I did sell this guitar. Also when I first got it the top strings up the neck did not sing out. It was a little bit flat sounding in that register. I found the particular e10OM I had lacked the strength here. The E10D has this incredible crispness and percussiveness in the mids. Where it fell down to my ears was in the mid range. Less power than the dread but more even projection across the strings. First up it was more delicate to play, what with the shorter scale and smaller body. So the OM had so measure up against the dread. I have had an E10D for about 2 years now and it is a keeper. Very close to boutique build at a very reasonable price.they also sound pretty good,to me! There is a video of the shop on their site and "all" guitars are completely hand built. Not even a CNC machine around. All necks are carved by hand etc. Also,on the Eastman forum, there are many pics comparing the internal aspects of the guitar to the likes of Collings(which I own too).It is almost impossible to tell who is who!Flawless build! I think that if one really wants to get a handle on why Eastman is getting such raves,it might be a good idea to check out just "how different" this company is,from other Chinese builders. The Eastman build is close to the boutique level and there "is" a certain "something" to my D-18V that is a stand out(Martin has got it down, after 175 or so years). I very carefully checked out Eastman before placing monies on mine and did play the E10-D and a Hog/Adi Om.I also scrutinized the build/fit/finish.and I've recently played 2 Martin OM-15M's.I like the Om-15 just fine, but from what I saw/heard the Eastman Om was far superior in every category.Just my own taste. I own a martin D-18V and a few other brands(H&D,Bourgeois,Collings) and have just put a deposit on an Eastman slope.E10-SS.
